white buffalo project
book design / LAYOUT / TYPOGRAPHY / print

i have had the pleasure of designing the most recent annual books for the white buffalo project membership. these lovely books were created for each member, for personal use and during their ‘herd’ meetings throughout the year. each hardbound book design included over a hundred pages of custom artwork, typography, photography, poetry and playlists. the minimalist cover art allows for design cohesion with future seasons. each book consists of nine chapters, member articles and feature pages, and includes journaling space. i drew inspiration for the design from an artistic feminine aesthetic, using warm neutral tones, and my own experiences as a member of the organization.

“the white buffalo project is a movement, a movement that gathers women together in authenticity. it's the battle for genuine connection during a time where we are encouraged to wear a mask, compete, and cut down. it's a project to create groups that rally around each other—groups that celebrate successes, but also lends a non-judgmental hand in the trenches.
we are creating community all around houston through events that invite women of all backgrounds to come together and change the conversation. we want to change the way women treat each other and change the culture of community, and change ourselves.”
